This is my
first import car and certainly will not be my last. I have seen the light.
I find this site amusing as I owned a nice black SS just prior to this purchase. Guess I got tired of working on it. Getting old I suppose. When the opportunity arose for me to race a SS with my new modern muscle car, I leaped on it. Little kid (SS owners all seem like kids now), pulled up aside me and said nice car. I said thank you and we chatted a bit. He challenged me and we launched. My car is not even broken in completely yet, but still I pulled away fast from his old mighty GM car. to ride me like he was gonna push me out of the way. I drop it into 2nd and

| Lexus IS300 5sp. | vs. | ImpalaSS | This little kid pulled up next
to me on thehighway and glanced over thinking he was some bad ass in his Taxi cab. I gave him the bird and pedal to the metal. I hear his car get on it with it's horribly loud exhaust. I shift into 4th gear and now see him in my rar mirror. By 115 this punk Chevy owner is 3 cars back. Pretty dangerous for this car since they do not handle very well. He backs off while I take it to 130. I slow to allow him to play catch up. He rolls up to about 1 car behind and then gets in behind me to high beam me. What an imature little child. Typcial of those that cannot win. Cry and scream instead. I give him another bird and he punches it around me. Too late, im already waiting in 3rd gear and punch it. The sweat Lexus straight 6 pulls on this hun a junk V8 again while the whole time im giving him the bird. I slow for the offramp and he follows. Posted limit is 45mph, I take it at 70 as I know this little ground hugger can handle it. THe Lexus easily whips around the bend while the Impala alamost eats it. I see some smoke from his front tires so he must have locked them up a bit. HA. He turned off and drove away without even a look at victory with his tail tucked. This guys plate said HEAVYSS. all of it's continous problems forced me to trade it in. I learned quickly that an Impala has no resale value whether SS or not. But my nieghbor bought his 16 year old a 95. Needed a little work but it appeared to run well. Well this morning this chump got side by side with me at the stop sign. I figured why not, let's see what the boys first car car do against a Chrysler product. I got a little head start and he tried to stay with me afterwards. would not be a good race because his car is too heavy and I run 0-60 in 6.5 seconds which is way faster than his Impala. He thought I was shittin him so we lined up later on and I smoked him. and one draw. Each of the stock SS's I was able to pull 2-3 car length by
0-100. The draw started pulling on me after 80mph but had a Vortec sticker in his front window. The accompanying redneck Red Wings sticker was on the back window. This guy after not being able to pass me by 100 yelled "rice burner" at the next light. I smiled and responded, "I'd be jealous too if I was driving a UAW-built piece of trash". and came upon a SS with NOS stickers on the rear along with a
B&M sticker. I look at this guy and he sees what I have. I just smile at him and he proceeds to roll down his window and says "You have a problem", I respnd, "Just curious how much cheater gas you have to run to try to make that thing go fast". ,He says ,"want to find out". My resonse,"sure if it dont break before hand". He says nothing and when the light turns green im off. He matches my speed in first across the intersection but then I just killed him afterwards. website.Of all the cars on the road-the Impala SS is my favorite to hunt down
and slaughter. It is a joy to tear them a new one with my Yamaha V6 and 5 speed when I can find one brave enough to step up to the plate. My latest SS race involved 2 of them on the famous Route 66. One black-the other green. Both playing with each other and that is when I entered the picture with some real horsepower. I shot around the green one and spat on the black one as they both tried their best to stay up. By 120 I must of been 7 cars ahead of them both. 2 in one shot. Terrific.TomW |

seem to think Impalas are some kind of super fast muscle machine. In fact,
they are big heavy 4 door cars. I own a '96 Impala and love it, but I didn't buy it thinking it was the fastest car on the road. I bought it knowing it was a big 4 door, but it is sporty compared to other big cars. If you don't like them that's cool. If you drive a Corvette or a Mustang Cobra, you probably would not consider an Impala. Let's compare the Impala to the Ford "Police Interceptor". 0-60 mph?8.75 seconds, according to Michigan State Police tests. If you want a big 4 door, what else would you consider? A Mercedes S 600 does 0-60 in 6.3 seconds, and it's only $120,000 more!I enjoyed your website. a fine website. Just simply outstanding. Your facts and figures are so true and it is simply amazing that some SS owners out in the world actually believe that they own a fast car. As you mention even if you do make it fast, the car is still ugly, unreliable, very old in design for both exterior/interior. Hell ,a Pinto can be made fast, but in the end it is still a Pinto. I have taken out so many of these $5000.00 antiquated Chevy's that to come up with just one story took a while. So on to the story. Location: So Ca. This mid aged Red Neck is flying down the freeway as if he was on some sort of mision in life Now come-on. It takes alot to get a SS to move on the freeway so I know he had it pucnhed or modded. I simply take off after this yahoo to instill in his feeble little mind what a Lexus V8 will do. The very fist thing this fool does is to TRY to outcorner me by jumping in and out of traffic. I suppose this idiot never realized that his taxi is not designed for this and thus he almost lost and just about got sideways. He was able to straigten it out with me easily on his tail. He punches it once again in a bid to outrun my car. Not a chance. I pull into the next lane and roll down my window so that I can hear his tiny little motor scream in agony for more power. I SLOW down AGAIN to let him catch up. Arm out, thumb up, and then a very hard thumbs down in this guys face. He gives the finger as your typical SS owner does when he refuses to believe that his 0-60 in 7.5 second car lost to an import. Im rolling at this point. I point at him to try again. This time I get over and brake from 80-55 in which I gave him a 4 car head start which he obvisously takes. I punch it and easily match and then pass him. Red Necks are so stubborn when they get Bitch Slapped. LOL. So I get off the freeway and he is right behind me about 3 feet from my bumper. I know I got him beat both mentally and physically. Too good. I turn right and immediately get over to the left so that he can get to my right. I suppose he beleives that he can take me from a stop. Yeah right. I BACK UP 1 full car length on this moron and when the light turns green we nail it. I very quickly match this scum bucket and pass him so fast he must of threw it into reverse. By 70 I was 5 cars ahead and pulling more. The next light comes up and he gets into the turn lane. Guess what., He gives me a thumbs UP. can post a SS kill , then so can I. I came upon a ugly Caprice-OOOPS-Impala
SS today with the plate-HEAVYSS. This guy had the typical GM stuff. Exhausts and all. I get super close to his bumper and high beam him to get his Caprice-ooops-Impala SS out of the way. Should be on a tow truck headed to the wrecker. So this guy speeds up with the typical GM smoke out the pipes. I smile as I drop the hammer and get right up on his Caprice. I then back off. It is a Chevy afterall. Never know when the bumper might fall off. The road goes into 3 lanes now and so I drop the hammer again and get to his side. This Good-O-Boy from the woods then floors his Caprice and I am now at this side. I smile and leave him in the dust. I slow a bit later and allow him to catch up. In fact I slowed all the way to 50 and this Good-O-Boy would not get to my side. What a little puuuuuussy this guy was. a good laugh. I have a 96 Impala SS. I don't take it serious, it's all just
in fun. The Impala is fast, but, let's face it there are a lot of other faster cars out there. I did get spanked by a Saleen mustang once...oops did I say that? Of course I'm not out there for racing around. I just like big cars like this. I also like the new Lexus IS 300, but the price tag? Anyway, have fun with the site, it's good fun. think they are the fastest things going. But in my opinion, for those
that have a limited budget, this car is the best power/cruiser/people hauler in the price range. When I bought mine I looked at the maxima and the camary...but for the price I bought the impala. Had it for about 1 year. It was a OK car. It had the typical GM problems. Mirror falling off, switches not working, many electrical issues,etc...but what I could not stand was the attitude of all of the SS owners I met. They swore to all things religious that their car was fast and IT IS NOT FAST. You would have to put allot of $$$$$$$$$ in this car to make it fast in these days. It just is not worth it. It is fine for a grocery cart , but that is it, it does not handle well. It goes through gas like a ROT and the interior comes straight out of a fleet car. PLUS-IT IS UGLY. Well I liked the looks when I was younger Nothing special about the car. Except those SS stickers that many pretend have some sort of special meaning. So for all of those SS owners with no life that spend their entire life's savings moding a 8 year old car just to match a STOCK Acura Integra GSR or Mustang GT , this site is for you. In fact most of those that mod their SS use NOS because it is the only real way to get real horsepower out of these things. I personally cannot stand NOS. It is like cheating for those that cannot make their car faster using all motor. But it's cheap so I suppose it fits their bill. A YUGO IS STILL A YUGO

You see-it is this simple. A Pacer, Yugo and a SS can be made fast. Anything can be made fast. But in
the end what do you have? Poor ergonoimcs. Outdated styling. Still does not handle or brake well.
Unreliability. and consistent trips to have it fixed. Plus everyone still knows that your
are driving a SS or Yugo!!!!!A Yugo is still a Yugo regardless of the speed.
I now drive a 99 Mustang GT. A true Muscle car. Got tired of
the GM thing.
Besides, the only way to get a Impala SS to run fast
is to use NOS which is for the poor and weak.
Funny how I now look for SS's to kill. They are too easy though
for this car. Maybe I should pull 3 plugs. Even things out.
UPDATE: Well the Mustang was stolen. I hate losers
that steal from others because their sorry ass cannot get themselves a
job. So now I'm in the search for something more sophisticated. Leaving those
sissy 16 valve V8's for the feeble. Ooops-sory dad. So looking for a Supra Twin Turbo.
